Coneflowers - 'Tiki Torch, Coconut Lime, Green Envy or the old style purple coneflower?'

The newbie on the perennial block is the ‘Tiki Torch’ Coneflower. As its name implies, this fiery-orange bloom with dark maroon center sits at the top of a long sturdy, well-branched stem.

This bold beauty blends well with many other flowers and ornamental grasses. It can be for mass plantings, rock gardens, around water gardens, and of course would stand out brilliantly when used as a container plant.

These cone-shaped flowers bloom July-September and grow up to 24-32 inches tall. They prefer full sun locations but seem to do equally well in partial shade.

Most soil types are suitable for this orange maroon coneflower plant, although a once a year fertilizer application is strongly recommended. They are hardy in zones 4-9.

How to take care for coneflowers

Coneflowers are very easy to care for. Although drought-resistant, plants should be watered on a regular basis to keep stems from weakening. Blooms should be “dead headed” often to keep the plant blooming frequently. Plant can be pruned mid-way through the season to encourage thick re-growth.
